Did the "7.3km" run today at Puchong near Bandar Puteri.
Arriving there at 6.30am was a great idea as I managed to find a parking spot a few hundred meters from the starting line.
After some pic taking and looking around, I started the warm up session on a adjacent road for 15 minutes.
However, there were some delay in starting the race due to whatever reason :( and the race was off at about 7.45am.
The pace was fast and furious for the first 3km. Unfazed by the hills, I pushed at above 12km/hr pace but not really going all out yet.
I was tagging behind a lady in a purple vest for most of the way.
After the drinks stop at the 4km mark, I passed the lady and caught with another girl in red. Her pace was pretty steady (and quick!) so I just decided to keep pace.
At about the 5km mark, my forerunner 405 was screwing up as the sweat was triggering the bezel and the screen was jumping around....WTH. Made a mental note to lock the bezel BEFORE starting the race....
Coming down the stretch, I pushed for the last 2.3km and was approaching a 13km/hr pace until I discovered there was another 500m to go! Luckily, I still had steam in me.
Managed to do it in 38 min 24 secs (+/- 5 seconds), something about 50th placing. Got the cert (easily) but no finishers medal (NOT GOOD!)
Anyway, I was plenty happy with my time and average pace of 12.18km/hr.
Looking forward to the next one, 12.8km KRI in Ipoh. Bringing the family along as well. Not sure how long the kids will live with this ha! ha!
